RE-UP: Pink Floyd live in Ann Arbor 1971 - 2CD - October 28

Pink Floyd
Hill Auditorium
Ann Arbor, Michigan
October 28, 1971

Disc 1:

01 The Embryo (12:38)
02 Fat Old Sun (16:26)

04 Atom Heart Mother (16:40)

Disc 2:

01 One Of These Days (11:11)
02 Careful With That Axe Eugene (12:00)
03 Cymbaline (12:07)
04 Echoes (28:19)
05 Blues (6:38)

Total Time: 132:51

Analog tapes originate from Joe Ruffner's 1st gen, taper unknown.

Speed corrected but still some (minor) fluctuations present as well as some tape problems, for instance during first part of AHM (wow, flutter), sound quality decreases near the end (Blues). The Embryo cuts in, Fat Old Sun cuts off. An upgrade to the "Michigan 28 October 1971", no label release, which has been heavily processed and which has the tape stretches edited out. A 1st gen circulates but it seems this 2nd gen is accepted as being best sounding (for now). No other info about the source available, nor about the speed correcting process which alone makes this a big upgrade to what we had before. Sound quality goes from very good to good to fair.

RE-UP: Pink Floyd live in Chicago 1971 - 2CD - October 27

artist: Pink Floyd
title: 2nd gen
disc/s: 2
date/venue: 1971.10.27 Auditorium Theater, Chicago, Illinois
total length: 144:43
Sound Quality: VG+

01. The Embryo [12:58]
02. Tune Ups [2:18]
03. Fat Old Sun [14:56]
04. Tune Ups [1:13]
05. Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun [13:48]
06. Tune Ups [1:08]
07. Atom Heart Mother [17:24]
08. Tune Ups [2:13]

01. Tune Ups [2:03]
02. One of these Days [9:13]
03. Tune Ups [1:28]
04. Careful with that Axe, Eugene [11:30]
05. Cymbaline [11:47]
06. Tune Ups [1:26]
07. Echoes [24:06]
08. Tune Ups [1:45]
09. A Saucerful of Secrets [15:20]

Nice upgrade to Echoes in the Auditorium, complete and totally raw.  Sounds a bit crispier
to me, I believe Echoes in the Auditorium had some NR used on it which in turn makes it
less hissy but also makes it bit dull compared to this 2nd gen.  This runs a bit slower
(not correct) than Echoes in the Auditorium and has more hiss but sounds absolutely wonderful.
Of course we have the waterbubbling sound again at the very end of OoTD.  Echoes and ASoS
have speed probblems, must have been a recorder issue.

From Ian:
"This tape almost ended before it began.
Ten minutes before the show started I realized that I had left the camera cable in the car!!
My friend had to tell the security at the entrance gate that he had left his medicine in the car and that he had to get it.
Luckily they let him back in.
But by the time he made it back to our hiding place (underneath a rear stage light tower that was draped in black cloth) the lights had already gone out.
I fired up the recorder once the show started but the deck needed the camera (and camera cable) to record the Hi-Fi tracks properly,
hence the garbled audio and no picture until my friend retrieved the camera cable."
